The price of $1,400 is a bit steep however, you can find it on sale often enough to make it more appealing. The unit looks great, and the base station occupies only a tiny space in the corner of an area. The design of this robot is able to address a few problems that we've encountered with other robotic mop and vacuum models, for example, the brushes getting caught in hair, and the brush being unable to reach floors that are not covered by furniture. The ability to sweep floors and carpets is also impressive. The vacuum/mop features a high level debris pickup and the mop will quickly soak up bare floors. The mops use a smart system that cleans along the edges of walls and around furniture. The robot can easily avoid obstacles like toys, food bowls and backpacks. It can get tangled or entangled with smaller, flatter objects like shoelaces, USB cable and pens. This robot was used to vacuum and mop hardwood flooring FLOR carpet tiles as well as pile rugs in an open-plan home. It was able to vacuum and mop the area of 90m2 in 170 minutes using FREO Mind enabled. This is a bit more than the average for Gen 4 robots. Certain features differentiate this robot from other models in its class. Freo X Ultra is equipped with numerous improvements in software, sensors, and hardware to keep it ahead of its class. It promises 3.5 hours of autonomy in areas up to 260m2. Freo's app lets you customize multiple functions, including how often the robot returns to the base station. You can also change the frequency of mopping and the power level (silent, intelligent), or the mopping's humidity. The app can detect heavily stained areas and design an appropriate cleaning route. It can also dispense detergent and raise the carpet pads. Other impressive features include an easy-to read display on the robot's underside and an access door for docks that is easy to open. The Freo X Ultra is the most efficient vacuum and mop for home and apartment owners who want to make a difference in their chores, while keeping their homes clean and tidy. Miele Scout RX3 Miele is no slouches in the world of robot vacuums and is known for its quality and innovativeness. This new model aims to take it to the next level, with high-end features and superior cleaning performance. The RX3 has a dual-suction system and intelligent mapping that incorporates 3D mapping, and a camera which transmits live images to your smartphone. The RX3's powerful four-stage system offers excellent dust collection on carpets and hard floors. Side brushes can be swept out with dual suction channels, and a user-friendly interface clean corners. Its 8.5 cm height lets it reach under furniture with low levels. Front cameras and an infrared sensor help it navigate barriers, thresholds and obstructions with ease. The Scout RX3 impressed us in our tests on how well it cleaned baking powder near corners and baseboards. Its suction was less powerful than other robots but it was still very quiet and moved quickly. It didn't mop, and its removable cleaning pad was difficult to attach. It also couldn't handle dried-on dirt. Its app is on the basic side with no advanced features such as multiple cleaning modes and automated scheduling. It does support Alexa however, its voice controls aren't particularly clear or responsive. Also, it's a bit flaky when it comes to getting back to the charging station following a run — other robots can trace a previous path or even follow a wall until they get to their destination, but the RX3 just bumbles about until it finally gives up and then sends a message about failure to your phone. We also encountered issues with the intelligent features of the device, including its mapping feature and the digital stay-out zones. While it did a decent job of avoiding our shoes and furniture legs, it got easily caught by socks and cables, and was unable to handle the tassels on rug. We didn't include the Scout RX3 on our Best Buy list. Still, with a decent price and impressive performance it's a Scout RX3 is worth considering if you're looking for an alternative to the traditional uprights.
